Torlon® 4203
Torlon® 4203, or Polyamide-imide unfilled, is known for its excellent electrical insulation properties, heat resistance and high strength. Ideal for precision components in Aerospace. Electronics and Semiconductor industries.
- Higher tensile strength “~20,000 psi” and “24,000 psi”
- Low moisture absorption 24 hours
- Temperature range -150°C (Cryogenic) to +260°C
- Excellent for fine precision components
- Superior electrical insulation, with superb dielectric strength
- Has the best elongation and toughness in the Torlon range.
- Good chemical & corrosion resistance to strong acids and organic chemicals
- Flammability, VO rated
- Higher strength electrical insulator, toughness and impact resistance compared to Torlon® 4301
- Not FDA/EU compliant
- Impact strength at low temperatures, decreases
- UV degradation
- Brittle at low temperatures
- Cost, expensive to produce
- Machining challenges, coolants can cause cracking, use water-soluble or air
- High moisture absorption in saturation, cause growth in close-tolerance components
Valve seats/seals, Electrical connectors, insulators, balls, Semiconductor parts in plasma, washers and much more.
Torlon® 4301
Torlon® 4301, or Polyamide-imide reinforced with 12% graphite and 3% PTFE, Is known for offering superior wear resistance, low friction and high strength at temperature. Perfect for wear application like bushes, bearing, seals and non-lubricated wear parts.
- Low friction and high-pressure velocity capabilities
- Temperature range -200°C to +260°C
- Chemical resistance, to acids, fuels and mineral/synthetic oils
- High wear resistance, with exceptional low friction and high PV capabilities
- Dimensional stability up to +260°C
- Durability, toughness, impact resistance and great creep resistance
- Flammability, VO rated
- Better wear resistance, friction and load bearing properties than Torlon® 4203
- Not FDA/EU compliant
- UV degradation
- Long machining processes required, like post annealing
- Extreme temperature changes can cause cracking
- Cost, expensive to produce
Bushes for jet engines and structural parts at high and low temperatures, Seals, Marine roller cages, valve seats, Automotive transmissions, Semiconductor wafer testing and much more.
Torlon® Other ranges available
Torlon® 5060, 60 percent fiber reinforced, for extremely high stiffness, minimal dimensional change and a tensile modulus 50% higher than reinforced PEEK.
Torlon® 5030, 30 percent glass fiber filler for highly loaded parts, plus electrical insulators at temperature of 150°C. Strength and creep resistance is unmatched by most polymers and second only to Torlon 7130
Torlon® 7130, 30 percent carbon fibers, for parts requiring strength, stiffness, fatigue resistance and lower specific gravity than glass filled Torlon. 50% lower coefficient linear thermal expansion than Torlon 4203
Torlon® 4275, is a graphite and PTFE filled polyamide-imide Torlon to improve wear resistance over 4301
Torlon® 4435, enhanced properties over 4301 at high velocity pressure. It also has the best coefficient linear thermal expansion of all Torlon grade.
Torlon® 4630, offers the lowest wear rate in non-lubricated, high PV bearing applications due to a combination of graphite and PTFE filler.
Torlon® 4645, is like 4630 but is best for externally lubricated bearing applications. Low wear rate, high PV makes it great for bearing applications due to its carbon and PTFE filler
